Week 5, Project Life...(Well, sorta)

This week, I discovered that there is a Project Life Photography Challenge every week at Scrapbookers Inner Circle. This week, the challenge was to include some of the foods you eat, and at least one recipe. I kind of liked this idea. I included the recipe for Xane's favorite mac and cheese. It's just the Velveeta recipe off the box, but he would eat it every day. As I was documenting dinner, I realized Xane asks me the same questions every night: "What's for dinner?" and "What time will my dinner be ready?" Typical boy!

Here is my spread for the week:

And then here is the right side, which is documenting dinner for the week.

The left side is documenting some of our activities. We went to skate night, had a game night, and it seems that as the year goes on, we have a lot more homework to do at night.

I made my own journaling cards once again, using some cardstock and stamps. And I used one of the discard cards from our new monopoly set.

And when I went to import the photos, I found some more pictures of Xane writing Valentine cards, which I had completely forgotten I had taken, so I guess I need to add a layout here in between....stay tuned.

Still not sure how I feel about this approach to scrapbooking. I feel like it isn't as nice as some of my other books, but it is a lot easier, faster, and I feel like it is more of a journal of our every day life. How can you not feel good about that?

Easing back into scrapbooking

In 2011, I went through a lot of life changes, and I took a break from scrapbooking. It was not intentional, there were just so many things throughout the year that I didn't want to remember, that I kind of got away from it. Now, in 2012, I am determined to get back into documenting my life.

It seems all "the cool kids" these days are using a Project Life format. I decided to try this. Now that I am a single mom, I don't have as much time to devote to scrapbooking as I used to, and it seemed a little faster. I did not buy the "Project Life" kit. I have an entire room of scrapbooking supplies to use. I did go get some divided page protectors. I am using the page protectors by We R Memory Keepers and Doodle bug. I made some of  my own journaling cards and I also downloaded some from 2peasinabucket.

I scrapped the whole month in 3 days.

January brought...

a New Year's Eve celebration with some of my friends, in which I drank fancy drinks and got fancy hair, my birthday, my niece's birthday, and a movie... That cupcake card is part of a birthday card that was given to me and I embellished with a sticker.

January also brought....

a snowstorm, and some time spent indoors!

After my first couple of pages, I decided I needed a "real" layout, so I documented my son and his ipod. This kid is a dancing fool! He boogies every day and he is quite good!

I used some papers I had from Echo Park. The set came with the snowflakes and journaling card. It also came with the "winter" strip sticker, which I stuck to the front of the page protector, rather than adding directly to the photos.

Finally, this is what else came in January...
a new polaroid camera! They were on sale and I couldn't  resist.

And...

our very first cub scout sleepover, in which we made marshmallow towers. Very fun.

Now that I am all caught up, I am looking forward to keeping up week by week. My first impressions are that 1) I need more page protectors, and 2) I need to be aware of the orientation of pictures I will need for each week.

Wiping the slate clean and starting over.

I was looking at something here and I realized the last time I posted was a year ago. So much has happened in my life, and my life has changed so much, I decided to just delete it all and start over. Stay tuned for some regular posts coming from me.
